• Shelby Foote was so easy to like as we read his accounts of battles, sketches of famous personalities, and anecdotes of soldiers in camp, on the march, and in the line of battle.  We will miss Mr. Foote and his easy-going manner of describing his heart-felt sentiments regarding the American Civil War.  He died, at the age of 88, on Monday, June 27, 2005.  Perhaps he is best remembered for his brief narrations in Ken Burns' production of The Civil War.
